History of Summer Hill Custom Home Builder

Steve Smith is the owner and president of Delaware home builder Summer Hill Custom Home Builder and Summer Hill Developments. He has a degree in Urban Planning & Economic Development from the University of Maryland, College Park, Maryland.
Steve has more than 15 years experience in land development, community design and custom home building primarily for resort oriented, master planned communities such as Delaware communities of Sea Colony, Bear Trap Dunes and Bayside. Steve was instrumental in the development of Bayside, which is a 1,700 home residential planned Jack Nicklaus Signature golf community near Fenwick Island, Delaware, that recently won the coveted “Community of the Year” award by Coastal Living magazine.
“Designing and building your dream home should be fun and exciting, not full of expensive change orders. I like to ensure we give the customer the total price up front and then deliver the home they want on time and within budget. I follow a pretty basic formula; Process + Outcome = Customer Experience. You must deliver on both sides of the equation for the customer to have a great experience. And the experience should last. If a customer calls 6 months after their warranty expired regarding an item that’s not right, we are there to fix it at our cost. We deliver quality and then stand behind our work. We are in the business of creating positive, lifelong relationships with our homeowners.”
Steve is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute, the Congress for New Urbanism, National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the Positive Growth Alliance, and the Delaware Association of Home Builders.
